American Airlines Flight Attendant Arrested After Being Accused Of Filming Girl In Bathroom
37-year old Estes Carter Thompson III was arrested by the FBI yesterday in Virginia after a 14-year old girl allegedly found a cell phone concealed with a "seat broken" sticker on the toilet seat lid. Thompson allegedly told the girl that the toilet seat was broken prior to her using the restroom. The girl's father allegedly went to confront Thompson, but was unable to as the flight attendant locked himself in the bathroom with his phone for three to five minutes.

This was an American Airlines flight from North Carolina to Boston. When the flight arrived at the destination, police reported that Thompson's cellphone had been restored to factory settings. Thompson's iCloud account was searched, and police allegedly found four videos when Thompson recorded a child using the airplane restrooms, as well as over 50 images of a 9 year-old girl flying as an unaccompanied minor, including photos of her sleeping. They also allegedly found hundreds of AI-generated images of child sexual abuse in the iCloud account.

"We take these allegations very seriously. They don't reflect our airline or our core mission of caring for people. We have been fully cooperating with law enforcement in its investigation as there is nothing more important than the safety and security of our customers and team," the airline said in a statement. Lawyers for the 14-year-old and her parents said American Airlines "knew or should have known the flight attendant was a danger." They are suing American Airlines, claiming the flight attendant was able to destroy evidence because other crew members didn't confiscate his phone.
